« on: September 29, 2015, 12:30:50 am »
For what it's worth. I am quite surprised actually, especially with Bush so low in the poll.

The Results Are in: Citizens United's Membership Presidential Poll:

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

I'm surprised only 1.3% are undecided.

Interesting. But this poll does seem to loosely mirror the Republican Party in general at this stage.

Yes, that's a given. "Citizens United is an organization dedicated to restoring our government to citizens' control. Through a combination of education, advocacy, and grass roots organization, Citizens United seeks to reassert the traditional American values of limited government, freedom of enterprise, strong families, and national sovereignty and security. Citizens United's goal is to restore the founding fathers' vision of a free nation, guided by the honesty, common sense, and good will of its citizens."

I think the poll reflects an accurate "mood" of the Republican voting base right now and I am so very glad to see Jeb at the bottom where he belongs.

Between Trump, Cruz, Carson and Fiorina, that's 78% of the total.

Doesn't leave much left for the GOP-e now, does it?

And Hillary "not my emails" Clinton is still polling slightly better than most of the republican hopefuls.

Let's not start counting chickens.  The hatching don't start until Nov. 2016.

All four outsiders. Boehner finally leaving (hopefully replaced by a conservative -- or, not a drama queen at least). And maybe, just maybe, McConnell can be escorted to a short pier where he can take a long walk.

Things are starting to look up.

As I have stated before; Trump in the race is shielding many candidates from the MSM who would have torn them to pieces by now; Rand, Huckabee, Jindal and Cruz would have been ousted leaving their golden boy Bushie to spar with the Beast.  Trump has drawn attention to a very important issue; immigration.  Like him or not, all in all he has been a positive for the GOP. When all is said and done, he is the only GOP candidate that can battle the Bush dynasty money.  I will take my chances with Trump over Bush any day. If you think Trump is to the left, Bush is even more so. Bush made a lousy governor and we would no longer be a sovereign nation under him.  Our kids are having his "common core" shoved down their throats.  Common core is doing nothing more than "dumbing down" the next generation.

I continue to watch and listen to Trump.  I think he would be good for the economy and I think he would put people back to work.  It appears to me that right now he is further educating himself as to what is going on in the Middle East, Korea, China, etc., and I have little doubt that his foreign policy would be much better than Obama's and his decisions would ultimately be in the best interest of America.

While Trump certainly is not my first choice and he does not come across as "polished" as some of the other candidates, I find his candid manner better than someone who is soft and phony (Bush).

Very cogent post.

That's one thing I really like about you liberty. You do not have knee-jerk reactions or follow the crowd. You actually think about things objectively.

Sometimes you have to be pragmatic.  As you say, I agree that, in many ways, Trump has been good for the GOP.  As lot more people are watching the debates and ideas are being talked about that have formerly been taboo, or paid lip service to.  Also, as you said, he is taking the flak and enabling other viable candidates breathing room to get a footing, if they are able.

Trump seems to be in it to win it - he is getting better as he goes and toning down the stupid insults.  He is a force to be reckoned with and should not be discounted as a flash in the pan.

Since Perry and Walker, and possibly Cruz, cannot make it - Trump will be my guy unless he really screws up.  He will tear up the establishment - a bunch of sorry corrupt bullies that are so used to intimidation to get their way.  I truly hate them - they are little better than the Democrats in my book.  I don't even call myself a Republican anymore because they have sullied the name.

Don't tread on me.   8888madkitty

We told you Trump would win - bigly!

Ted Cruz is all about pleasing a small but vocal and powerful portion of the GOP but that is all he seems to be about.  He needs to show there is more there there.  If the GOP was as dominated by the right as some seem to think Cruz would have more than 50%.  No one else has tried as hard as Cruz to be the most right-wing candidate.  Even if you gave him all of Trump's votes he still would not get what he needs.
