SOUTHERN COMFORT (1981)

Stars: Keith Carradine, Powers Boothe, Fred Ward.

A squad of National Guards on an isolated weekend exercise in the Louisiana swamp must fight for their lives when they anger local Cajuns by stealing their canoes. Without live ammunition and in a strange country, their experience begins to mirror the Vietnam experience.

My husband was in the 101st Airborne out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
As part of his training was wilderness survival.  To this end, his unit was airdropped into remote areas of Louisiana, and his mission was to survive for two weeks.  He and his best buddy did all that it took to reach civilization--Cajun, whatever.  And that's what they did to survive.

This is the truth about  the 101st--don't know where Hollywood got their info.

I owned a VHS tape of this...may still have it.

Helluva sleeper!  Would love to see it again.
