Questions about whether President Obama was born in the United States and about whether he is a Christian or a Muslim are "a big waste of time," Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio said.

"Barrack Obama will not be president in a year and a half. It's time to start talking about the future of America," Rubio said today on ABC News' "This Week."
...
"We had a three-hour debate, no discussion about the national debt, very little about the economy. It was a constant 'he said, she said, what do you say, because so-and-so called you this name or that name.' Quite frankly, it might be entertaining for a few minutes, but there are people out there living paycheck to paycheck," he said.

If there was an independent entity working on this I certainly would feel it is warranted given the dire situation this country is in.  But for Congress to now explore the possibility is pointless.  The main objective should be to stop this president for inflicting further damage to this country to ensure that we actually make it to another election.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

He's right, of course. We all know by now who and what Obama is.

As the Opposition, our immediate goal for the next 16 months must be to do whatever we can to limit the harm that Obama will continue to inflict, then to coalesce around an electable candidate who will at least be able to start repairing the damage done. Mr. Rubio, in my estimation would not be a bad choice.

And perhaps we can also finally do something about our own feckless, stupid, spineless, gutless, and preternaturally ineffective "leadership".
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Rubio is right on this.   The candidates need to focus on the issues, -the problems the next President of the United States will be faced with on day one.  When a reporter, a debate moderator, or a private citizen ask a question not relative to this election, especially when the question is design to trip the candidate up (the proverbial, when did you stop beating your wife? question), they need to grow a backbone and say, I’m not answering that stupid question – ask me something pertinent to this election or about my policy.    They did this with Carson over the weekend asking him if he would support a Muslim in the White House. Carson fell into the trap, and sound-bites were heard all over the airwaves most of the day Sunday and into today.

Obama is probably an atheist.   His mother was an atheist (and indeed, a Communist).  He was a member of a radically left wing church that espoused Socialism instead of Christianity.  Obama's atheism should not be a surprise for any reader who has casually studied Obama.

Regarding his citizenship, I never understood those making it an issue.  Even if he was born in Kenya (doubtful), he would be a citizen since his mother was a American citizen.

The GOP has lost the national popular vote in 5 of the last 6 Presidential elections.

The persistence of this question among Republicans, should be a clue; e.g. the near inability to distinguish "pastor" from "president."

Rubio has been impressive in finding a voice and maintaining a presence.  He appears to be on the upswing after a rugged start.  He bears watching as his youth and vigor and quick thinkinng would be a tremendous contrast to the Democrat standard-bearer, whomever that might be.  Of the current office holders in the race, he has been the most effective.  He may need to tweak a position or two to overcome, or co-opt himself into, the tremendous "outsider" movement.  But he shows well on TV and speaks very effectively, particularly on foreign affairs.

Rubio comes out on top when compared to Cruz, mainly because Rubio seems like a nice, natural warm man, while Cruz seems stilted, programmed, angry, lecturing.

Also this issue (something that the candidate who shall not be spoken was a big spokes person and who claimed to have something but never produced.) has hurt our cause.  Flame away

Rubio is showing that he understands that Obama is not running in 2016.

If only more of our voters understood that.

I'd adjust that to "pope" and "President".

He's also the only candidate with a positive message and a positive vision in his speeches.

Similar meaning intended, either way.
