Huckabee to hold 'liberty rally' for jailed Kentucky clerk
By Al Weaver (@alweaver22) • 9/3/15 7:33 PM

While Kentucky clerk Kim Davis continues to sit in jail after refusing to give out marriage licenses to same-sex couples, Mike Huckabee plans to stand up for her.

The former Arkansas governor announced Thursday that he will be heading up a "liberty rally" next Tuesday for the jailed county clerk in Kentucky.

According to his campaign, Huckabee will be joined by Matt Staver, the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, who is representing Davis in court.

"This is a reckless, appalling, out-of-control decision that undermines the Constitution of the United States and our fundamental right to religious liberty," Huckabee said in a statement. "Having Kim Davis in federal custody removes all doubt of the criminalization of Christianity in our country. We must defend religious liberty and never surrender to judicial tyranny."

What a world, where Hillary Clinton isn't in jail but Kim Davis is," Huckabee added.

Huckabee has been the most vocal supporter of Davis in the GOP 2016 field, saying earlier Thursday on Twitter that Davis being put in jail "removes all doubts about the criminalization of Christianity" in the U.S.

Well, it looks like he's going to get a nice, big, fat campaign contribution from the same guys that funded Santorum in 2012.

I have to agree with Huckabee "What a world we live in when Hillary Clinton isn't in jail but Kim Davis is"...

Hillary Clinton can arm Syrian rebels which are ISIS allies, lie about her role in the death of four Americans and run for president, yet Kim Davis is imprisoned for exercising her first amendment rights.    :thud:

The topic is: Can individuals seek to impose the religious beliefs of their denomination, on the community and the nation overall?

I understand she has had four marriages, and isn't proud of her past. But she had a revelatory experience and now is a devout Christian.

Her basis for doing this is religious. Her religion over that of anybody else who might disagree with her.

Our Constitution is entirely silent on marriage and on homosexuality.

I'll ask again. If she was a Quaker, and refused to issue gun permits, would she get the support of the evangelical Christian community? For following her religious beliefs?

Of course she wouldn't get support, unless it was to support firing her.

She is in jail for exercising her rights under The First Amendment in the U.S. Constitution.  While I realize that our country is falling apart at the seems and their is little respect to honor and uphold the Constitution; there are some who still believe it is their duty as American citizens to respect and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

She can practice her religion freely within her family and her faith community, but she cannot impose her personal/religious beliefs on the public at large.

The Constitution is silent on marriage and on homosexuality.

A muslim who kills Jews and Christians in accordance with his religion, is not protected in our system to do so.

What it comes down to is some Americans want evangelical Christianity to be the national religion, and to have it imposed on everybody, Constitution be damned.

It was once the belief of some religious denominations that races shouldn't intermarry. A county clerk in Mississippi during the 1950s would probably have refused to issue a marriage license to a white and black wishing to marry.

But it is now widely agreed that has changed, by both practice and by law. In America religion is not supreme, the civil laws are.

Huge mistake by Huckabee. This woman is a government employee, so in a sense an arm of the government and she does not make policy of the place she is employed, no more than somebody working at the post office. If this was a private business, then I would feel differently, but from what I see from her with her snarky attitude, she is not far removed from the Westboro Baptist church bunch.

The very same people who celebrate her "rebellion" for the sake of their shared religious beliefs, would condemn her if she refused to issue gun licenses as a practicing Quaker.

Religious liberty/freedom be damned if it is the other person's liberty at issue.

Please provide proof of those claims.
