ISIS has a new weapon to help spread terror across the Middle East — American-made M16 rifles.
Recent propaganda videos released online show the Sunni radical terror organization training recruits with the U.S.-made weapon, NBC News reported Tuesday.
In May the terror group seized dozens of military vehicles and various other weapons when Iraqi forces fled Ramadi. One month later, the Iraqi government also lost more than 2,000 U.S.-made Humvees to the terror group in Mosul.
“It is noteworthy that the use of American rifles by Islamic State fighters is rare and is only seen in Iraq,” said the security firm Flashpoint Intelligence, NBC reported.
“These rifles were likely left by U.S. forces or seized from Iraqi soldiers.”
The terror group captured worldwide attention last weekend when it destroyed a Roman-era Temple in Syria’s Palmyra city. The the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported Aug. 30 that Islamic State demolished the Temple of Bel.
