Robert Costa and Philip Rucker survey how the other candidates are handling Donald Trump. They note that nobody is planning is to spend a lot of money on ads trying to take Trump down. I’ve gotten the same impression from Republicans to whom I’ve spoken: The basic idea is that even if you think Trump would be a disaster as a nominee, there’s plenty of time to see how much staying power he has beforce committing resources against him. If he still has a big lead over everyone else in October, I’m sure the ads will start being aired.
