Headless Body Found On Blackpool Beach
« on: August 17, 2015, 07:57:54 am »
Police are investigating after a fisherman found a headless body on a Blackpool beach.

Officers were called out at around 8.45am on Sunday morning after the discovery on Queen's Promenade near Bispham.

Michael Cartwright, who found the body, told the Blackpool Gazette: "It was like a torso. I am not sure if it was male or female.

"It was next to the sea wall. I spotted it and asked a young lady to call the police.

"A dog walker also helped. We did not want any children going past to see it, or for any dogs to go near the body.

"It looks like they have been in there for a very long time."

Derek Lowde, who was fishing on the same stretch of water, said it was around an hour before the body was removed from the scene.

Mike Charlton from Lancashire Police told the Gazette: "We had reports there was possibly a body on the beach.

"Officers attended. We can confirm it was a body.

"Officers are still investigating."

I do love how, to be a Police Officer in the UK, you must master the art of understatement.
