Black Man Assaults Woman And Breaks Into Her House To Tear Down Confederate Flag

Here’s a tale of tolerance and understanding that will warm your heart. An angry black guy attacked a woman so he could get inside of her house to tear down a Confederate flag she had displayed in a window.
The Journal Times says that 37-year old Tajaun Boatner of Racine, WI noticed a Confederate flag hanging in the window of a house owned by an unidentified woman. The black man knocked on her door and politely asked her to move the flag. She cordially agreed to this request and moved the flag from her kitchen window to her bathroom window.
This was taken as a sign of disrespect by Boatner who suddenly became not so polite. He began yelling at the woman and she yelled back. Boatner claims she called him a “racial slur” but as you will soon see he may not be the most credible witness.
The argument escalated and Boatner assaulted the woman, throwing her to the ground. He barged inside her house and ripped down the Confederate flag. She called the police and the fun continued from there.
When the cops arrived, they began to ask Boatner simple questions about what had transpired. He didn’t feel like answering for his behavior and started yelling at the officers. Proving he was definitely not the reasonable one in the flag dispute, Boatner fought the officers as they attempted to handcuff him. They had to pin him down to get him under control. When the cops tried to place him into the squad car, he kicked the officers.
Boatner is now looking at a wide array of charges including criminal trespassing, misdemeanor battery, disorderly conduct, misdemeanor theft and obstructing an officer.
What about a hate crime charge? Nowhere in the report does it say the unidentified woman is white, but let’s assume she is. It seems like this crime was almost certainly motivated by race and hatred. A black guy attacked a white woman (more than likely) and broke into her house to tear down something he considers a symbol of whiteness. That’s as textbook a hate crime as you will find. Well, it would be if hate crimes were applied equally to all races.
I just got done writing about a man in Louisiana that was charged with a hate crime for pulling down an abortion clinic sign. This Wisconsin incident is infinitely more “hate crimey” than that.
Looking at this another way: if a white guy pulled down a Black Lives Matter banner, he would be charged with a hate crime. If a white guy yanked down a Mexican flag, he would be charged with a hate crime. If a straight white guy ripped down a Rainbow flag, he would be charged with a hate crime.
If those things are true, and they are, then when a black guy commits an assault on a white woman while pulling down a Confederate flag, he should also be charged with a hate crime.
