http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/clinton-aide-vows-to-destroy-emails/article/2569935Hillary Clinton's top aide at the State Department is set to hand over the last of her work-related emails Monday before destroying all remaining electronic copies.
Cheryl Mills, Clinton's former chief of staff, was asked by the State Department to submit all copies of records potentially related to her government service in the wake of inquiries from Congress and the public about her boss' unusual email arrangement.
"Following our production on Aug. 10, 2015, we have instructed her to delete any and all electronic copies in her possession," wrote Beth Wilkinson, Mills' attorney, in a letter to the State Department Thursday.
Wilkinson also told the agency that Mills never had an email account on Clinton's private server.
Mills was widely reported to have hosted her communications on the same "clintonemail.com" domain that Clinton used for her own emails.
The former secretary of state created several email addresses to maintain her records outside government archives.
The letters between Mills and the State Department arose from a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch.
The conservative watchdog group sought records related to a controversial employment status bestowed on Huma Abedin, Clinton's deputy chief of staff, that allowed her to work simultaneously for the State Department, the Clinton Foundation and a consulting firm called Teneo Strategies.
Although the State Department sent three separate requests to Abedin starting in March, her attorneys claimed none succeeded in reaching the former aide until May 19, months after news of the private email arrangement broke in The New York Times.
Abedin gave the State Department 338 pages of emails on July 9 that were related to Benghazi, the letter indicated.
But her legal team said it would not have all of the work-related emails compiled and ready for review until August 28, more than five months after the initial request was sent.
