Clinton Aides Refuse to Hand Over Email Certifications

Remember how in the wake of the Snowden NSA revelations the government how kept telling us if you’ve got nothing to hide, you’ve for nothing to fear?
Let’s throw that same logic back to Hillary and her two top aides, Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin (pictured.) Because they are acting very much like people with something to hide. And fear.
Acting in response to a request from a federal judge, Clinton Friday submitted her first official, formal certification under penalty of perjury that she had all her work-related email turned over to the State Department.
However, two aides to Clinton appear to have rebuffed parallel requests from U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan that they similarly certify that they’d turned over certain emails and other records in their possession relating to their work at State.
Last week, Sullivan ordered the State Department to ask Clinton, former Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills and former Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin to formally certify they’d turned over all records responsive to a Freedom of Information Act request Judicial Watch filed seeking information on Abedin’s employment arrangements at State.
Now get this: A court filing the Justice Department submitted on Friday afternoon indicated that Clinton had not replied to the department’s request that she submit a declaration pursuant to the court’s order. However, a State spokesperson confirmed Saturday that such a submission from the Clinton camp did arrive Friday, but wasn’t immediately noticed because it went to someone who was on vacation. Such is the state of things at the State Department, God help us.
State does not always appear to be in a rush to communicate legal requests and deadlines to Clinton and her former aides. State’s Friday afternoon filing indicated that while the judge asked the agency a week earlier to ask for the certifications, the State Department did not send letters relaying the request until Wednesday of this week.
More seriously, while Judge Sullivan’s order sought personal confirmation from all three former officials that they’d turned over all related records as well as details of any use Mills and Abedin made of Clinton’s email server, neither of the two aides sent a personal declaration to the court. Instead, lawyers for each of the staffers submitted letters providing some details on the situation.
This puts the ball back in the Judge’s court. Will he subpoena the documents? Will be issue a contempt judgement? Maybe if he asks again really, really nicely?
