Al-Qaida urges 'strike America in its own home'

Yemen branch ratchets rhetoric, calls for terror in U.S.

Published: 4 hours ago

The Yemen branch of al-Qaida has put out a call for terror attacks against Americans, saying lone wolf radicals ought to launch immediate strikes on U.S. soil.

“We urge you to strike America in its own home and beyond,” read a letter believed to be written by Ibrahim al-Asiri, the leading bomb-maker with al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP, CNN reported.

SITE Intelligence Group said the letter states, “America is first.”

Here’s the unprecedented story of terrorists from some of the most dangerous organizations in the world, in “Schmoozing With Terrorists.”

The letter comes just as another AQAP leader, Khaled Batarfi, released a video containing a similar call to arms.

The United States hasn’t verified the authenticity of the letter, yet. But one counterterrorism agent told CNN it is “consistent with rhetoric the new leader stated upon taking over al-Qaida’s most active affiliate that is known to threaten Western interests.”

I keep going back in my mind...regarding the hacked personal information on government workers AND specifically our military.

They have addresses.  It could be feasible to conduct a coordinated strike on the families of special forces warriors...akin to the Baptism 'hit' in the Godfather movie.  Same strategy used on September 11th, 2001 with multiple planes.

Is that being preposterous?

Feasible, certainly.

For it to have an effect at national level though, it would need to be very well co-ordinated indeed. You'd need to hit 50 to 100 families simultaneously, otherwise it would get lost in the random death and destruction that happens every single day.

With widely spaced targets across several time zones, that becomes a serious problem - after all, buildings don't exactly go anywhere! Put it this way - I'd hate to have to set it up using professionals. Using amateurs - nope. Not going to work, no matter how willing they are to die for the cause.

Hope you're right, EC.    :0001:
