Kerry peddles Iran deal to House: We don’t need no stinking Constitution!

Secretary of State John Kerry made a statement last week that was so outrageous it even made a Hollywood actor’s jaw drop.

Rep. Reid Ribble asked Kerry why the administration didn’t feel it necessary to follow the provisions set forth in the Constitution when making the nuclear arms treaty with Iran.

Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution provides:


[The President] shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur

Presidents have followed the Constitution for 228 years, Ribble told Kerry, by getting the advice and consent of 67 senators. President Obama doesn’t see fit to do that, Ribble said, before asking, “Why is this not considered a treaty?”

Kerry’s response was over-the-top audacious and arrogant.

“Because you can’t pass a treaty anymore,” he said.
 

 
So just tack on a different name and call it done?

The audacity wasn’t lost on actor Adam Baldwin, who tweeted a video of the exchange (along with the hashtag #tyranny):
