Police and Military Are Investigating a Threatening Note Left on a Service Member’s Vehicle

In the wake of last week’s act of terrorism in Chattanooga, police and military officials are looking into a threatening note left anonymously on the vehicle of a service member at a shopping center near Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Cobb County, just northwest of Atlanta.

Cobb County Police and the US military are investigating a report of “terroristic threats” after a letter was left on a vehicle at an office off of Powers Ferry Road.

It is believed to be the same letter posted to a Facebook page which, according to Cobb Police, included threats of harm, and referenced the person’s affiliation to his military service.

Cobb Police Officer Alicia Chilton said it is possible the victim was targeted due to having a license place which identified the person as being a service member.

A news organization founded by Marines posted the note on the Facebook page along with a warning to people at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, asking them to remain alert. The letter was addressed to an “American Soldier,” and along with threatening attacks, promised “no mercy.”

The note, which was printed and in all lowercase font with no punctuation, reads:

Untitled

dear american soldier,

death to you coward women child killer and all of the american military

mohammad will show no mercy on you

attacks will come full force

death is to come to you

This part of metro Atlanta is particularly sensitive to threats against members of the military since one of the Chattanooga shooting victims hailed from Cobb County. Marine Skip Wells will be laid to rest this weekend in his hometown of Woodstock, not far from Dobbins ARB.
