The RNC ended the second quarter with $16.1 million in cash-on-hand, doubling-up their Democratic counterparts.
The DNC raised $6 million in June, and ended the quarter with $8 million in the bank.
“Early support from investors is absolutely essential in laying the groundwork for a victorious 2016 election,” RNC chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement. “It allows the RNC to make long-term strategic investments in everything from data infrastructure to on-the-ground voter engagement—all while holding Hillary Clinton accountable for her record of hypocrisy and failure."
The RNC ended the quarter with $1.8 million in debt, compared to $5.6 million for Democrats.
The RNC is running away from the DNC in the cash game so far this cycle. National Republicans have raised $55.4 million, compared to only $31.5 million for the DNC.
Priebus said the committee is using its fundraising haul to build out its ground game earlier than it has in previous electoral cycles, and on initiatives meant to reach minority voters.
Congressional Democrats fared better on the fundraising front than the national party.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $16.7 million in the second quarter, compared to $16.1 million for the National Republican Congressional Committee, although House Republicans finished with about $1 million more in the bank.
And the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has taken in about $3 million more than the National Republicans Senatorial Committee this cycle. However, Senate Republicans are debt free, while Democrats still have about $10 million in liabilities.
