A 'devious and deceitful' immigrant from Pakistan has been given a life sentence for killing his wife.
30 year-old Jamshaid Khan stabbed Milena Yulianova to death at his home in Forest Gate in January last year. Khan had made repeated attempts to become a permanent resident in the UK and hoped being married to a EU citizen would help his case. But the judge Stephen Kramer said he had killed Milena because she would not help him.

The court had been told that Khan went on Facebook to make contact with other East European women who he hoped might help him. He told one of them that his wife had already been killed in a car crash.
I am satisfied you are a manipulative, devious and deceitful man who wriggled and writhed your way through the trial. You told one of the women on Facebook that Milena had died in a car accident. Those conversations indicate you were already contemplating you might feel the need to replace her.

The judge praised passers-by who went into the house to try to save Milena's life. But she died at Newham General Hospital that evening because of a stab wound to the heart.
