203 Killed, 158 Wounded across Iraq; Baghdad Bombed Again
Posted By Margaret Griffis On    July 12, 2015 @ 6:30 pm   In Uncategorized |     No Comments

Baghdad suffered several bombing attacks on Sunday but, in good news, the World Bank has agreed to supply Iraq with some reconstruction funds.

The World Bank has agreed to lend the Iraqi government $350 million to fund emergency infrastructure repair in towns rescued from the Islamic State militants. The low price of oil has cut into the country’s revenue stream, so the government has been forced to ask for help. Several countries and organizations have pledged to help. This is the first such assistance.

At least 203 were killed and 158 were wounded:

In Baghdad, a suicide and car bombing killed 19 people in Shabb. Nine people were killed by a car bomb in Bunouk. More than 100 people were wounded in those attacks. A suicide bomber targeted Kadhimiya, where he killed eight people and wounded 23 more. Four people were killed and 11 were wounded by an explosion in Iskan. In Amil, two people were killed and seven were wounded by a bomb. Security forces killed seven militants.

Militants executed 10 former army officers in Mosul. At least 11 civilians were also executed, by bulldozer. Airstrikes killed 20 civilians and wounded 17 more. Sixteen militants were killed in airstrikes.

In Qayara, militants executed a candidate for the Iraqi Forces coalition.

Peshmerga forces retook the village of Gebara, killing 30 militants in the process.

Security forces killed 25 militants in Albu Filis.

In Qaim, 23 militants were killed.

Peshmerga forces killed nine militants in Ba’shiqah.

Seven militants were killed in Falluja airstrikes.

In Saqlawiya, several suicide bombers were killed.
