Muslims in UK 4 Times More Likely to be Anti-Semitic

Majorities of European Muslims are anti-Semitic

Somewhat surprisingly, French Muslims score the lowest on anti-Semitism clocking in at 49 percent. But that may be because France has been taking this issue seriously and pushing back. That puts it slightly below the average of 55 percent.

The anti-Semitism index scores were extremely high for Muslims across all six of the European countries sampled, with the lowest level recorded in France:

    Belgium: 68 percent of Muslims harbor anti-Semitic attitudes, compared to 21 percent overall;
     Spain: 62 percent, compared to 29 percent overall;
     Germany: 56 percent, compared to 16 percent overall;
     Italy: 56 percent, compared to 29 percent overall;
     United Kingdom: 54 percent, compared to 12 percent overall;
     France: 49 percent, compared to 17 percent overall.

It's an amazing transformation that shows two things. Most European countries are not particularly anti-Semitic these days. Muslims are outliers in the population.

Nor is Muslim anti-Semitism derived from the native European population.

 .
Germany and Italy both have a 56 percent Muslim anti-Semitism score, but Germans clock in at only 16 percent, while the Italy of Beppe Grillo comes in at 29 percent.

Muslims in Europe now appear to constitute its core anti-Semitic population. Muslim anti-Semitism scores are well above those in places like Russia, Ukraine or Poland. About the only outlier there is Greece which just is the way it is.

European Muslim rates are still below those of Muslims in their own countries, but that's likely due to a lower rate of media anti-Semitism and legal issues since Europe does criminalize the expression of some forms of bigotry.

Surveys like these are not necessarily very reliable. Anti-Semitic views don't necessarily translate into violence either. There are some high numbers in Asia for example. It's more useful to look at actual rates of violence and attacks on Jews.
