AhlulBayt News Agency - A top ISIS commander was killed by US-led coalition airstrikes and several of the group’s military bases were also destroyed Sunday, an Iraqi military official has said.

The announcement came in a statement released Sunday by the chief of the Nineveh operations command, Major General Najim Abdullah al-Jubouri.

The statement further explained that the commander of the Takfiri terrorist group, identified as Abdullah Mohammad al-Horan, died when US-led coalition airstrikes targeted a number of military bases in the al-Islah al-Zera’ie area of western Mosul, which remains under ISIL control since nearly a year ago.

The aerial operation, the statement added, further killed 10 other ISIL terrorists who served as operational commanders.

“Horan was in charge of all executions, beheadings and cruel punishments that the group has carried out in Mosul and nearby areas,” added the statement as cited in local press reports.

According to Major General al-Jubouri, Horan was also in charge of ISIL terrorist units in the eastern outskirts of Mosul.

Local reports further indicated that most of the Takfiri militants killed along with Horan in the airstrikes held foreign non-Arab nationalities.

Since June 2014, the Takfiri ISIL group has been committing heinous crimes against all ethnic and religious groups in Iraq, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians.

Backed by Kurdish forces and volunteer Shia and Sunni fighters, the Iraqi army has been battling to drive the ISIL terrorists out of the areas they have seized.

Since August 2014, the US along with some of its regional allies has been conducting airstrikes against purported ISIL positions inside Iraq.
