Quinnipiac: Packed GOP Race Leaves No Clear Winner in Fla., Pa., Ohio
Thursday, June 18, 2015 07:16 AM

By: Melanie Batley

In a crowded field of Republican presidential contenders, no one has been able to take the lead in more than one key swing state, a new poll has found, but former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton leads by over 50 percent in each state.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll conducted June 4-15:

In Florida, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has 20 percent support, while 18 percent support Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
In Ohio, Ohio Gov. John Kasich has 19 percent support, followed by Bush with 9 percent.
In Pennsylvania, Rubio has 12 percent, followed by 11 percent for Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.

Since 1960, no candidate has won the presidential race without taking at least two of these three states.

"With so many Republican candidates, there is no clear leader in these key swing states in the race for the 2016 presidential nomination," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll, in a statement.

"Two favorite sons, former Gov. Jeb Bush and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, are ahead in Florida and have some legs in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Gov. John Kasich is Ohio's hometown favorite, but he's invisible in the other two states."

"Five candidates share the lead in Pennsylvania with none getting more than 12 percent of the vote. The GOP presidential race is clear as mud," Brown added.

Meanwhile, Clinton leads with over 50 percent support in each of the states. Specifically:

Clinton has 64 percent support in Florida.
She has 60 percent in Ohio.
She has 53 percent support in Pennsylvania.

"The race for the Democratic nomination could not be more different. Secretary Clinton is far, far ahead and the criticisms of her and questions about her email and family foundation seem to be having no impact at all on her Democratic supporters.

"She remains the apple of the Democrats' eyes and at least at this point has little to worry about from her primary challengers," Brown said.

[[ Clinton has 64 percent support in Florida.

Huh?
64% of -what-?
Democrats, registered voters, everyone.... what?

Even if these numbers are off by 10%, this is BAD news for the Pubbies.

They can't win without Florida AND Ohio in 2016.

What's going on here?

There are plenty of independents that conclude the GOP's ridiculous primary process is evidence the don't have the organization, discipline or common sense to govern.

It goes on top of the damage they do to their reputation with threats to shut down government.
