The already dismal first quarter projection of just 0.7 percent GDP growth has just been reduced yet again to a paltry 0.2 percent. (a figure that many economists would indicate as ZERO growth.)
Now here is where things get distinctly doom and gloom, reader.
The tepid U.S. economy has managed to remain (somewhat) afloat to this point due to zero-interest Fed-generated money being borrowed at an astronomical rate which was then spent by the TRILLIONS via the Obama federal government. This means that whatever stability we have seen over the last six-and-a-half Obama years is false and not based on the REAL economy. It is a paper thin life raft which is now falling apart underneath us as sharks of recession (or worse) circle in waters far deeper and potentially more turbulent than we saw in 2008.
The White House’s response to the rather dire news of just 0.2% GDP growth was to shrug and declare that all is well. Either they are utterly ignorant of fact, or they simply don’t care. Perhaps it is a some measure of both.
The debt is far greater, the FED has run out of options, and the Federal Government has increased in size (and cost) to levels we would have deemed impossible just a decade earlier.
The only real hope now is a dramatic shift in voter sentiment that results in an equally dramatic shift in how Washington D.C. conducts business. Namely, to get out of the way of enterprise and innovation that are the true engines of any thriving economy. America is in dire need of less regulation, lower corporate taxes, which in turn will create more REAL jobs here at home. These ideas are not new, or complicated, but for the last six-and-a-half years they have been either ignored, or even attacked by the Bigger Government solves everything mantra of the Obama era. That era is coming quickly to an end, and so too must its false and dangerous premise.
It’s time America stands up straight, dusts off the foolishness of electing someone so clearly unqualified and incompetent, and returns to the basic principles of freedom and opportunity that will get this nation back to work.
