Dingbat Woman Uses Her Period Blood As Art: Media Proclaims It “Hypnotic” And “Beautiful”

The UK Independent is really fond of Jen Lewis.

Her work is beautiful and “hypnotic” and golly, everyone should see it.

What makes Jen Lewis so wonderful and fascinating?

Because she uses her period blood in her “art.”

Rather than being considered “gross,” which makes total sense, the paper  displays some of her work, which amounts to taking pictures of her menstrual blood floating around in water.

Here’s how the Independent describes it:

Denver-based Lewis had the idea of using the slow, hypnotic way blood moves in water to create a series of abstract photographs. She began to experiment with blood in her work in 2012, and eventually “Beauty in Blood” was born.

The beautiful results are designed to challenge the existing stigmas and shame associated with women’s menstrual cycles.

Which is incredibly stupid, especially because Lewis said she’s not making pictures just for the “shock value.” Oh really? If you want to make art like this, won’t any blood do?

Lewis emphasized that she isn’t making the pictures just for the shock value. “Naturally there are ‘haters’ in the comments section and loads of people write ‘Beauty in Blood’ off as being ‘shock’ art or ‘dumb’ and ‘gross’,” she said.

Apparently her husband has nothing better with his time to do, so he helps her make the art.

It’s such a shame they’re not considering why they think that. Who told them menstruation should be hidden and never discussed?”
