Quinnipiac Poll: Walker Leads GOP Field; Jeb a Distant 7th

A new Quinnipiac poll of likely Republican presidential voters in Iowa has Scott Walker leading the GOP pack, while Jeb Bush trails at a distant seventh place.

Iowa's caucus-goers gave Walker the lead at 21 percent support, an 8-point advantage over his next closest opponent, but down from a February poll where he garnered 25 percent.

According to the poll, there's a scramble for second place:

    Rand Paul of Kentucky and Marco Rubio of Florida each received 13 percent
    Ted Cruz of Texas is at 12 percent
    Mike Huckabee of Arkansas is at 11 percent
    Ben Carson is at 7 percent
    Jeb Bush is at 5 percent

Six percent of the caucus-goers are undecided. The margin of error on the poll is +/- 3 percent.

Why does Iowa represents "conservatism?"  Iowa takes the nation's largest single farm subsidy by state.

Only because their laws (and New Hampshire's) basically allow them to jump ahead of any other state, and both parties have let them get away with it. The candidates have to cater more to the powerful corn lobby than to the party base.
