UKIP candidate in beheading threat
« on: April 23, 2015, 02:41:28 am »
A threat to behead a UKIP candidate in Newcastle is being investigated by the police.

David Robinson-Young, who is standing in Newcastle East, said he received a phone call on Tuesday from a constituent complaining about the Middle East.

The caller said "you will be beheaded next" during the 20-minute call.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "The matter has been reported to police and is being investigated."

The constituent contacted the 62-year-old after receiving a campaign leaflet.

Mr Robinson-Young added: "I'm not a man who is easily intimidated, I'm an ex-policeman and I've been subjected to numerous physical threats in the past."

He said he found the threat "chilling" and was "shaken".
