Slow news day.

Drivers on the M74 were forced to endure delays today after they drove into a scene straight from a cartoon.

Police confirmed the delays on the motorway were caused by a ‘dog taking control of a tractor’ in South Lanarkshire.

Traffic Scotland tweeted the information, including an assurance that they were ‘not joking’ this morning, and mentioned that the police and a farmer were at the scene where the vehicle was stationary in the central reservation.

After what we can only imagine to be a very tense stand-off the dog was coaxed out of the vehicle and the route was cleared.

Neither the dog nor any motorists were harmed, and police suspect the incident occurred after the dog leaned on the controls of the tractor it was sat in, forcing it onto the road from a nearby field.
