Finance world in the dark as Bloomberg terminals go offline
« on: April 17, 2015, 08:39:17 am »
Bloomberg terminals, the computer systems used by hundreds of thousands of financial workers, appear to have gone offline.

Users reported problems with the machines on Friday morning, with frustrations reported on Twitter.

The rare outage left traders scrambling, although service appeared to be restored after a brief period.

Financial services workers and journalists use Bloomberg terminals on a constant basis throughout the day to check news and financial data.

It is unclear at this stage what caused the outage, which saw screens showing a message saying: "*** CONNECTION STATUS *** Connecting..."

Bloomberg confirmed the terminals were down worldwide, and that they are investigating.
