Last week Clinton Machine operatives met in private with Martin O’Malley to offer the former Maryland governor a spot on the Clinton ticket, according to Capitol Hill sources.

(Above: Martin O’Malley is said to be giving the Clinton offer serious consideration.)

The effort is meant to head off a possible challenge by O’Malley for the Democratic nomination, something the Clintons are increasingly concerned about given Hillary’s sudden drop in the polls following her email and possible pay-to-play scandals, and a still-looming Bill Clinton “Orgy Island” media relations debacle.

(See story:  HERE)

While the O’Malley camp is said to be seriously considering the Clinton offer that he be her running mate, they remain tight-lipped over whether or not the former Maryland governor would rather run AGAINST Hillary Clinton and take the Democratic nomination for president himself. O’Malley certainly sounds like a man seriously considering going up against the Clinton Machine given his recent ABC News interview:

Quote
“I think that our country always benefits from new leadership and new perspectives,” he said. “Let’s be honest here, the presidency of the United States is not some crown to be passed between two families. It is an awesome and sacred trust.”

Those who opposed Governor O’Malley in Maryland know well how ruthless of a politician he can be, despite his often cheerful and outgoing public persona – a persona that makes him a far more capable retail politician that Hillary could ever hope to be. He has strong union support, considerable fundraising potential, and of late, very favorable media attention – all essential to any Democrat hoping to be President of the United States.

Martin O’Malley’s recent commentary appears to show him breaking from the Obama years as well, something that further pushes Hillary Clinton, the former Obama Secretary of State, into a corner:

Quote
Asked if Clinton was the right candidate to take on those special interests, O’Malley said: “I don’t know. I don’t know where she stands. Will she represent a break with the failed policies of the past? I don’t know.”

Hillary Clinton IS the failed policies of the past, a comment that was sure to have sent the Clintons a message and one that apparently then led to the offer of having O’Malley on the Clinton 2016 ticket. D.C. Whispers suggest O’Malley’s refusal to give the Clinton operatives a definitive answer following last week’s meeting was not well received by either Bill or Hillary, both of whom long considered him a Clinton loyalist. This most recent meeting was actually the second such meeting between the former Maryland governor and representatives from the Clinton camp. The first was to find out if O’Malley intended to run. O’Malley was apparently just as evasive at that first meeting as he was at the second.

There is more on this though, reader, involving operatives from a likely (and front-runner) REPUBLICAN candidate who is said to be nearly as nervous over an O’Malley 2016 presidential campaign as are the Clintons, and in fact played a role in helping to orchestrate the meeting between the Clintons and O’Malley as well. (oh the tangled and incestuous web that is D.C. politics!) Just awaiting a bit more details on that and will share when confirmed.
