Eleanor Holmes Norton Doesn’t Think We Have the Right to Know When Our President Is Selling Us Down the River

by Sara Noble • March 26, 2015

Eleanor Holmes Norton

Totalitarian Eleanor Holmes Norton thinks the people and their representatives in Congress don’t have the right to know all that is going on in government.

“You don’t have a right to know everything in a separation-of-powers government, my friend. That is the difference between a parliamentary government and a separation-of-powers government,” Norton said during a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing.

We don’t have the right to know when our president is selling us down the river is what she really means. It’s especially true when we are told this is the most transparent government ever!

The non-voting congressional delegate from D.C. made the comments during a congressional hearing in a case involving the White House and unanswered subpoenas. She said Issa’s subpoenas were “fishing expeditions” and the White House doesn’t have to answer them. We “don’t have a right to know” everything that the administration does, she said.
