Huckabee to Kerry: You're a Hypocrite!

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is calling Secretary of State John Kerry a hypocrite in a message sent Monday that he shared with supporters.
Huckabee encouraged backers in an email to share the letter with friends and family.
In the letter, Huckabee tells Kerry he finds his opposition to congressional oversight "offensive and hypocritical" and his posture toward Israel "deeply disturbing."
Kerry has criticized the executive branch since the early 1970s, Huckabee said, and shouldn't be pointing the finger at others now.
"Frankly, your criticisms are hypocritical," the letter says, noting that Kerry launched himself into the public spotlight in 1971 when he testified before a Senate committee that President Richard Nixon was continuing the war in Vietnam only because he didn’t want to be the first president to lose a war.
"In 1985, you did more than just send a letter to a foreign nation — you flew to Nicaragua to negotiate with Daniel Ortega and other Sandinistas despite express opposition from the Reagan administration," Huckabee wrote.
Huckabee mentions Kerry's appearance Sunday on "Face the Nation" in which the secretary described a letter signed by 47 Senate Republicans as "unconstitutional." That letter addresses the Iranian government and warns that a nuclear deal signed by President Barack Obama is not enforceable without the approval of Congress.
President Barack Obama is reported to have been infuriated by the letter, fearing it will harm the negations currently ongoing in Geneva.
But Huckabee says the senators were fulfilling their proper role.
"Congress has the constitutional responsibility to serve as a check-and-balance on the executive branch," Huckabee's letter reads. "As has been done with immigration, healthcare and many other issues, the Obama administration is once again deliberately bypassing Congress and exceeding its constitutional authority."
He quoted Kerry as describing the Senate letter as "unprecedented" and "wrong," but argued that Kerry's own "willingness to trust Iran and undermine Israel is what is unprecedented and wrong."
Huckabee said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is "a Churchill in a world full of Chamberlains," and that Iran is the world's largest sponsor of terror.
"As an American, I am embarrassed that you, Vice President [Joe] Biden and other high-ranking administration officials boycotted Netanyahu’s address to Congress yet never miss an opportunity to visit with Iranian leaders," Huckabee wrote.
Huckabee said he respects Kerry's service in Vietnam and his service as secretary of state, but said Kerry should extend respect to those "faithfully executing their oath of office in the U.S. Senate and to Prime Minister Netanyahu, who like you, want to stop terrorism worldwide."
