Chicago Public Schools Requiring “Latino” Studies For ALL Students Because Rahm Emanuel Is Facing Latino In Election

Starting in kindergarten, students in Chicago Public Schools – all students – will be forced to learn about Latino history and culture as part of the curriculum.
After adopting an “Afro-Centric” curriculum last year, officials decided that the next minority group that needed pandering to was Latinos, as they will soon make up a plurality of children in the sprawling district.
Children will be taught the Mayan counting system in kindergarten and “African influences on South American percussion” in the fifth grade, according to Catalyst Chicago.
Of course, for every “South American percussion instrument” that fifth-graders learn about, that’s less time to learn about other things – like American history.
And clearly this has nothing to do with the fact that Mayor Rahm Emanuel is facing Jesus “Chuy” Garcia – the son of Mexican immigrants – in a runoff election next month. I’m sure Emanuel isn’t using Chicago’s children and the school system as a callous political tool.
While more and more students are taught about “multiculturalism” at the expense of core American civic concepts, it makes it more and more difficult to keep this country together as a single cultural entity. Dividing people along racial and ethnic lines is a sure way to destroy a society.
But nevermind all that. Some teachers think the Latino studies don’t go far enough. Students should be taught about “insurrection” and “demand for change.”
Because nothing’s better for our schoolchildren than to teach them the value of violent revolution, right?
