US to arm Syrian rebels with high-tech gear for airstrikes

Moderate Syrian rebels will get heavily armed pickup trucks and high-tech gear to call in American airstrikes against ISIS terrorists, under a new plan revealed Tuesday.

The Pentagon will give the rebels Toyota Hi-Lux pickups outfitted with machine guns, along with radios and GPS devices to help US fighter pilots target the Islamic militants, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The rebels will also get mortars and possibly more sophisticated anti-tank weapons, the Journal said.

The plan — part of a “train-and-equip” program set to start next month — will mark the first time the United States has openly armed the rebels, following a covert

4. isis now equipped with American high-tech gear.
