7 Months After Bombing ISIS, Obama Seeks Congressional Authorization

Posted By Daniel Greenfield On February 11, 2015 @ 10:20 am In The Point | 7 Comments

Then again Obama never got Congressional authorization for his illegal war in Libya. Instead he lied to the UN by claiming that he was just trying to create a No Fly Zone. Whenever anyone asked him, he claimed that he had the support of the Arab League.

He decided to intervene against ISIS (belatedly) in August. Now he decided that he wants Congressional authorization.

Obama on Wednesday asked Congress to authorize military force against the Islamic State group and urged lawmakers to “show the world we are united in our resolve” to counter the direct threat that militants could pose to the United States.

Shouldn’t he have asked them that 7 months ago? Why suddenly wake up now?

Obama said the Islamic State “poses a threat to the people and stability of Iraq, Syria and the broader Middle East and to U.S. national security.”

Which is what members of Congress, generals and veterans were saying while he kept insisting that it was a JayVee team. So now Obama is trying to pretend that he’s out ahead of the situation.

Obama said his draft would not authorize long-term, large-scale ground combat operations like those in the past in Iraq and Afghanistan, with local forces instead carrying that responsibility.

He said he wants the flexibility for ground combat operations “in other more limited circumstances.”

So Obama wants plausible deniability for ground combat without having the appearance of another Iraq War.

Obama’s resolution would repeal a 2002 authorization for force in Iraq but maintain a 2001 authorization against al-Qaida in Afghanistan. Obama said in his letter to lawmakers his goal is to refine and ultimately repeal that authorization as well.

The 2002 authorization is what enabled him to go in to begin with. His administration asked to repeal it, then used it, and is now asking to repeal it again.

And now Obama is planning a repeal of the 9/11 authorization against Al Qaeda. Because apparently it’s no longer a problem.

Why suddenly ask for Congressional approval when he hasn't in the past?  He simply wants to put the responsibility on a Republican Senate and House.  Further he stated he wants flexibility for ground combat operations...God Help Us and God Bless Those Troops that are sent in.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
