Obama’s Disgusting Betrayal Reversed By Congress: Ft. Hood Shooting Now Classified As “Terrorism”

By Robert Gehl, February 7, 2015.

Reversing a disgusting betrayal by the Obama Administration, the United States Army told Congress yesterday they were classifying the 2009 Fort Hood massacre an “act of terror” rather than “workplace violence.”

The change in status allows the victims and their families to receive much-needed benefits and recognition they had been denied. The Army will award purple hearts to the 32 wounded and posthumously to the 13 dead and medical care and other benefits provided to terrorist victims will be available.

Back in 2009, the massacre by Maj. Nidal Hasan was classified as “workplace violence” by Obama’s Defense Department because he were unwilling to admit that an “act of terror” was committed on American soil on his watch, McClatchy News Service reports. It was only after Congress had to pass legislation that the victims were fully recognized.

“This is fantastic. This is the greatest day for these victims,” said an upbeat Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas, who has worked on legislation to secure the awards since entering Congress in 2013. “It became common sense to call this ‘terrorism.’ From day one, President Barack Obama and the administration didn’t want this to happen, to have an “act of terror” on their watch.”

The new legislation by Congress puts the Ft. Hood victims in the same category as the 9/11 victims, and eligible for the same recognition and benefits.

“The Purple Heart’s strict eligibility criteria had prevented us from awarding it to victims of the horrific attack at Fort Hood,” said Secretary of the Army John McHugh in announcing the decision. “Now that Congress has changed the criteria, we believe there is sufficient reason to allow these men and women to be awarded and recognized with either the Purple Heart or, in the case of civilians, the Defense of Freedom medal. It’s an appropriate recognition of their service and sacrifice.”

Hasan was clearly a terrorist.

Prosecutors said one of his motivations was to kill as many soldiers as he could to wage jihad on American military personnel. He told a military mental-health panel the shooting was justified because the soldiers he killed were “going against the Islamic Empire.” Before the attack, he sent messages and emails to Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical American-born cleric described by officials as the leader of external operations for Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

Reversing Obama’s decision was a great step by Congress in ending this disgusting betrayal of our servicemen and women.
