At the National Prayer Breakfast, President Obama reminded attendees that violence rooted in religion isn’t exclusive to Islam, but has been carried out by Christians as well.

Obama said that even though religion is a source for good around the world, there will always be people willing to “hijack religion for their own murderous ends.”

“Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Obama said. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

Obama also denounced Islamic State terrorists for professing to stand up for Islam when they were actually “betraying it.”

“We see ISIL, a brutal vicious death cult that in the name of religion carries out unspeakable acts of barbarism,” he said criticizing them for “claiming the mantle of religious authority for such actions.”

OBAMA’S (IM)MORAL EQUIVALENCE BETWEEN ISIS AND CHRISTIANITY

by JOEL B. POLLAK5 Feb 201510
President Barack Obama offered the nation a lesson in moral relativism at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, when he admonished Americans not to “get on our high horse” about radical Islam because “people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” including here in the United States. Obama’s statement was both immoral and insensitive, and appeared to excuse the grotesque atrocities carried out by radical Islam, as well as his own passivity in responding.

Obama’s moral equivalence–immoral equivalence, really–between medieval Christianity and contemporary radical Islam points to the fundamental reason that he has often refused  to identify terrorism as more than “workplace violence”, and “extremism” as something other than radical Islam. Obama’s focus is to transform America, and to do that he first needs to humble America, to convince Americans that there is nothing innately better or exceptional about our chosen values.

While it is true that history is replete with examples of people carrying out atrocities in the name of nearly every faith and ideology, in the context of our present circumstances, where the jihadists of the so-called Islamic State are taunting the world with their brutality, to declare that “it’s not unique to one group or one religion” is to abdicate any pretense at moral leadership in rallying the nation and the world to stop what is happening–and to prevent it from spreading elsewhere.

Instead, Obama called on Americans to “start with some…humility.” He told Americans to “not be so full of yourself and so confident that you are right” and that “somehow we alone are in possession of the truth.” Not only does he often fail to take that advice, but his self-righteousness about his own moral relativism is self-contradictory. He has shown more passion in admonishing Americans than condemning terror. Worse than insulting, his remarks are a disgrace to the office he holds.

This is a common theme used by the left. It infuriates me beyond words, as it must many others like me. Which is probably why the left loves this assertion so much.

Yes, horrible things were done in the name of religion, a LONG time ago. But even Westboro Baptist doesn't advocate suicide bombings.

These people are insane. Both the sharia lovin' muzzies and our leaders in the admin who are siding with the sharia lovin' muzzies, just insane. Both without souls.

Tactic of the left: equivalence.  People killed for Christianity (though nothing like what they've done for Communism, fascism or Islam) 700 years ago so that means they are the same as murderous savages today.

I have news for you...people are going to have to kill for their beliefs again in order to be allowed to retain them.  Do you think Islam is going to change without a fight?

Barack Obama Just Indicated Little Difference Between ISIS & America (VIDEO)

These are prepared words at the National Prayer breakfast this morning. Once again imploring others not to judge Islam too harshly, Barack Obama gives us HIS version of the past which likens Christian and American history to similar atrocities now being committed by tens of thousands of ISIS Muslim fanatics. It is shocking to see him stand there and relate long ago historical examples as evidence the United States and the Christian world have little right to condemn the current horrific brutality of the ISIS regime and other Muslim militants at war with freedom and liberty. Shocking, sickening, and terribly dangerous as such words only embolden those who would see us all burned alive…

(The president admits ISIS is bad, (while refusing to call them Muslims) but attempts to then tell the world America and Christians really aren’t much better.)

_______________________

It is particularly interesting how, when rambling about current atrocities being committed by ISIS and other Muslim terrorist groups, Barack Obama never actually says the words Muslim, or Islamic, or terrorists. Ah, but when he speaks of other historical examples of wrongdoing, watch how easily he then connects those to the specific titles of “Christian” and “American”.

Indeed…

The president goes into his anti-American/Christian rhetoric at approximately the two-minute mark:

Surely those Christians were just being mean and hateful to the piece-loving moslems of the day...   /s

Hey Ulsterman, you aren't even supposed to notice such things... much less draw attention to them...

Funny I don't recall seeing a bunch of Christians blowing people up in the name of Christ.
