AFDI to Condemn Islamic State’s “Unspeakable” Brutality in Killing of Jordanian Pilot

cair-ad-(WASHINGTON, D.C., 2/3/15) — Later today, representatives of the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) and other national and local leaders who believe in national defense and human rights will hold a news conference near the headquarters of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), designated a terror organization by the United Arab Emirates, to condemn the terror group the Islamic State’s “unspeakable” brutality, to explain the foundations of its brutality in Islamic texts and teachings, and to call upon Muslim groups like Hamas-linked CAIR not just to condemn these acts, but to institute programs in U.S. mosques and Islamic schools that actively teach against the Islamic State’s understanding of Islam.

“We join the world community in mourning the death of yet another victim of the Islamic State’s brutality. This unspeakable Islamic act must be condemned by anyone with even a spark of humanity,” said AFDI President Pamela Geller. “Such inhuman acts are designed to provoke hatred and to create divisions, and we must not fall into this trap laid by the terrorists. It is long past time for Muslim groups who say they condemn these acts to back up their words with actions.”

Geller added: “We are calling for an end to the war on information. Groups like Hamas-CAIR are disarming the American people, leaving them completely unprepared for the coming onslaught.”

“Hundreds of Muslims from the U.S.,” said Geller, “have gone to Iraq and Syria to join the Islamic State. This shows the hollowness of the condemnations of the Islamic State from groups like Hamas-CAIR. We don’t need more empty words. We need Hamas-CAIR and other Muslim groups to show they really reject the Islamic State’s ideology by teaching and working against it. Until then, their condemnation just exposes them yet again as hypocrites.”

Jihad Watch Vice President Robert Spencer explained: “The video showing the Jordanian hostage being burned to death is entitled, ‘Healing the Believers Chests.’ That’s from the Qur’an: “Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame, help you over them, heal the breasts of Believers.” (Qur’an 9:14) Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, who years ago tried to murder students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the name of Islam and jihad, also referenced this verse when explaining his actions.”

Spencer added: “There is also this story from Muhammad’s conquest of Khaybar: ‘Kinana b. al-Rabi, who had the custody of the treasure of B. al-Nadir, was brought to the apostle who asked him about it. He denied that he knew where it was. A Jew came (T. was brought) to the apostle and said that he had seen Kinana going round a certain ruin every morning early. When the apostle said to Kinana, “Do you know that if we find you have it I shall kill you?” he said Yes. The apostle gave orders that the ruin was to be excavated and some of the treasure was found. When he asked him about the rest he refused to produce it, so the apostle gave orders to al-Zubayr b. al-Awwam, “Torture him until you extract what he has,” so he kindled a fire with flint and steel on his chest until he was nearly dead. Then the apostle delivered him to Muhammad b. Maslama and he struck off his head, in revenge for his brother Mahmud.’” That is from Ibn Ishaq’s eighth-century biography of Muhammad (515).

AFDI is America’s most forthright and outspoken civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of the jihad doctrine and Islamic supremacism, encourage honest action to protect civil liberties, empower free Americans, and build coalitions that defend justice, freedom, and human rights.
