More Snow For Britain As Mercury Plummets

Warnings are in place for much of the country and commuters are told to be careful in icy conditions as temperatures drop to -11C.

Light snow outside the Houses of Parliament as parts of Britain woke up to a blanket of snow with temperatures reaching a spine-chilling -11C (12.2F) in places

Parts of the UK have been waking up to a fresh blanket of snow, following a night that saw temperatures drop as low as -11C (12.2F).

Even parts of London are seeing light snow falls but higher ground such as the North York Moors and Lincolnshire Wolds have been told to expect up to 10cm (4in) of snow.

The Met Office has issued weather warnings for snow and ice in much of the UK and gritters have been out in force.

The Highlands village of Dalwhinnie felt the coldest temperature overnight, with the mercury plunging to -11C and Katesbridge Co Down reached -8C.

Sky News weather forecaster Isobel Lang said that while snow falls in the southern and eastern areas of the country would only be up to 4cm (1.5in), this would still cause difficult travel conditions.

Lang added: "Today will see further wintry showers across eastern and southeastern areas of England, although they will become less frequent and turn more sleety.

"During this evening and overnight there will be another widespread frost with the risk of icy patches as further wintry showers spread in across eastern England.

"Showers are unlikely to spread as far inland as last night, ice is likely to be a risk too."

Temperatures will struggle to get above 6C in parts of England, including London, according to Met Office forecaster Kirk Waite.

The trains seemed to be handling the snow well in the morning, with most running a normal service.

Signal problems meant delays for some, however, including South Eastern, Southern, London Midland and ScotRail.

Heavy traffic was reported on many of the nation's main roads, according to the Highways Agency, with the worst congestion seen on the M62 towards Hull entry slip road from the A15 after an accident closed the road.

Roads with moderate congestion included the A174 westbound between the junctions with the A1032 and the A19; the A34 southbound between the junctions with the A4130 and the M4.

Everyone just needs to quit whining and STHU. It's not cold, 2015 is the warmest year on record, as is 2016 and '17, and they have the numbers to prove it. You are not freezing, you need to snap out of it and realize just how much global warming is going on.
The Republic is lost.

Why isn't global warming the same everywhere?

The left is cunning. They have rebranded Global Warming as Climate Change. Well, no kidding, the climate has changed, and will change. In essence, the left now has people worrying about a natural, uncontrollable event. It's as if they have people trying to fight the daily darkness event.

The next step for the left was to blame human activity for accelerating climate change. There is no proof for this assertion, and it would be difficult to quantify if there was proof. But, popular culture has come to the rescue and accepted human activity as the prime mover for climate change.

Engage any alarmist, tell them you accept climate change, but reject human activity as the cause. The alarmist will have only heard you say you reject something, and you instantly become an irrelevant, ignorant denier to them.

The good news is, it seems to me, the average person doesn't buy into the alarmist garbage. The bad news is, those with their hands on the levers of power seem to be alarmist sympathizers.

As I remember it, carbon dioxide is the culprit and that particular gas makes up about .03% of the gases in nature.  That's a lot of damage for so little an amount.

CO2 is miraculous stuff, the only more potent gas is unicorn farts. Did you stub you toe today? CO2 induced global warming. Mail didn't come? Yep, damn CO2. Car didnt' start? You know what did it!

It's amazed me how at every turn their predictions of runaway CO2 and warming has been thwarted by things like plants growing faster and sucking up more CO2, or water vapor from supposed warming making clouds and cooling the earth down, among many other things.

My favorite was an article from a few years ago when they were completely shocked at how much radiation was leaking into space from Earth. They thought the CO2 should all be radiating it to the ground and not in a 360 direction. Idiots.

Yes, they've focused on CO2 as the green house gas to worry about. Conveniently, CO2 is a by product of most industrial activity. Go figure. They've settled on CO2 as the problem, and human activity as the main source of CO2, but they still can't prove if CO2 is a leading or lagging indicator in global warm... er, climate change.

Absolutely right!

Why, wasn't it not that long ago that the New York Times predicted that soon we'd see "the end of snow" ??
