Global Warming Scamming – In Their Own Words.

Not so long ago, many of the global warmers were shouting to the heavens about quickly approaching doom for all humankind if we didn’t do something NOW to slow the imminent global warming disaster caused by too many cars, cows, etc. Some, like Al Gore, made millions upon millions as global warming hucksters. Nations demanded “preparation payments”, and the United Nations happily obliged, (again paid in great part by American tax dollars. These payments ensured world leaders would continue to support the warmer hysteria as it meant the promise of future dollars coming into their own corrupt and wasteful governments. This process was then mirrored by our own government agencies, universities and research facilities as money came pouring into those institutions as well, so long as they too helped to spread the hysteria.  But what of the many dire predictions themselves? Have they proven true?

Well let’s just take a quick look shall we?

First up is a quote from a longtime sky is falling University of California professor Kenneth E.F. Watt. Watt made a lot of money in both book sales and speaking fees in the 1970’s when he was warning the following:

“If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but 11 degrees colder by the year 2000…This is about twice what it would take to put us in an ice age.”

Watt’s predictions, which were hungrily cited by such Mainstream Media as TIME, Newsweek, and others, proved laughably incorrect, but what happened was the profitable global cooling cottage industry quickly turned to global warming as the global cold spell of the 1960’s moderated in the 1970’s and temperatures began to slowly rise again. (These moderate up down temperature fluctuations are normal. Most common-sense type folks just call it longer term “weather patterns”)

So with figures like Watt leading the way, in came a new generation of climate alarmists who were this time finding ways to make big bucks by claiming the earth was now warming at dangerous levels. This is the same time hundreds of millions of dollars from oil-rich Middle East nations began pouring into the global warming movement as well – money intended to greatly expand the global environmental movement that would make energy production costs skyrocket in the United States and elsewhere, thus ensuring much greater profits for Middle East oil. (Which is exactly what happened by the way. Well played OPEC, well played…)

In a 1990 book, Princeton University’s “highly respected” climate expert Michel Oppenheimer, made this claim with near absolute certainty – none of which came to pass of course. That didn’t matter though. Professor Oppenheimer sold a lot of books and demanded and received, large speaking fees selling to others his doom and gloom prophecies:

“By 1995, the greenhouse effect would be desolating the heartlands of North America and Eurasia with horrific drought, causing crop failures and food riots … By 1996 The Platte River of Nebraska would be dry, while a continent-wide black blizzard of prairie topsoil will stop traffic on interstates, strip paint from houses and shut down computers.”

By 2000, after a moderate warming trend in the 1990’s, the warming alarmists were braying loudly and the money was pouring in.  That was the same year Dr. David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia said this:

“Children just aren’t going to know what snow is and winter snowfall will be a very rare and exciting event.”

The actual weather record shows just the opposite – record snow throughout the world in the years following the “world without snow” predictions.

Still, the global alarmist movement had a slew of professors, and Mainstream Media figures willing to spread lie, manipulate data, and make money off the machine, but they hadn’t yet found that single, unifying personality to consolidate the movement into something truly powerful.

Enter Al Gore.

As a politician, Gore had long ago established himself as a man willing to say anything to anyone so long as he perceived it as furthering his primary agenda – himself. From inventing the Internet to this infamous example of lying that was all but ignored by most in the Mainstream Media at the time:

In the Presidential debate on October 3, 2000, Governor George W. Bush gave credit to the Federal Emergency Management Service (FEMA) for their work in Texas during fires and floods in Parker County. Vice President Al Gore said “I accompanied James Lee Witt down to Texas when those fires broke out.” Carl Cameron, of Fox News first reported that Gore had not, in fact, been to Texas with Witt to look at the damage in Parker County. Gore WAS in Texas, but FEMA officials said Witt never went to Texas to deal with the 1998 fires.

So Al Gore was all too willing to lie about anything which of course made him perfect for the quickly growing and potentially very profitable global warming movement. By the 2000s, along with Saudi investments, were tens of millions more dollars pouring in from billionaires like George Soros and other deep pocket figures who hoped to make yet more billions off of an international Cap and Trade scheme. Gore had the political connections, the name recognition, and the woody, slightly smarmy public persona that made him the perfect choice to sell the manipulation.

What followed was the now infamous An Inconvenient Truth, a sort of documentary which showed Gore travelling the world (a bit of irony there given he was belching tens of thousands of pounds of CO2 to do so) showing a souped up slide show in the dangers of global warming. Prior to the film’s release, investors had already made certain the media push would be significant.

In the film, Gore basically puts the same dire, shocking and ultimately false predictions from alarmist professors of the past and adds equally dire, shocking, and ultimately false visuals to the agenda. Audience members’ faces are shown wide-eyed and fearful as Al Gore drawls on about rising seas, massive deserts, lost glaciers, horrific hurricanes, etc., etc.

Then, as every good salesman will do, Al Gore goes in for the close. The conclusion of An Inconvenient Truth is nothing more than a ShamWow worthy moment of the former Vice President informing his captive audience that as bad as things are, if they only give to the cause, they can help save the planet. The audience dutifully smiles and nods, and thus spreads the message to viewers that they too, with just a little donation of their time and money, be part of something much bigger than their own small and inconsequential lives.

It worked. The money poured in. Al Gore’s personal wealth grew exponentially within a few years, and an entirely new and even more lucrative environmental movement was re-born. As for Al Gore’s own failed predictions, here are but a few:

In 2007, 2008, and 2009, Al Gore asserted, based on what he simply called “climate experts”, that the North Pole would have an “ice free summer by 2013.”

Well, 2013 came and went, and the ice cover in the North Pole actually increased by 50%.

Al Gore, at the time using footage from Hurricane Katrina to bolster his snake oil presentation, claimed the world would be facing even greater and more numerous hurricanes like Katrina in the coming years. The facts have proven different, with the actual number of year to year hurricanes going below 100-year average levels. Hmmm…it would seem that either global warming doesn’t exist, and therefore we are seeing fewer hurricanes, or global warming does exist and therefore we are seeing fewer hurricanes.

Al Gore appears to have no comment…

Ah, but who then will the climate mongers turn to so that they might reignite the profit potential of their climate change machine? They need someone just as happy to lie, cheat and steal as Al Gore, but perhaps with greater charisma in reading the script. Who would be available to play that part within the next couple of years?

I wonder, I wonder…

Bueno. Very good. Sehr gut.

Like.

May I add probably the best selling book of the era on the topic: "The Population Bomb" by Dr. Paul R. Erlich, 1968.

Erlich warned of a coming ice age, which of course failed to come along.
