President Barack Obama will visit Selma, Alabama, in March to mark the 50th anniversary of civil rights activists’ march across the state to Montgomery, the White House said Tuesday.

The trip is slated for March 7, an official said, and will “highlight the president and his administration’s overall efforts to mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.”

The date of the trip is what’s come to be known as Bloody Sunday, the day when state and local authorities attacked protesters as they marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) was among the marchers and will join the president on his trip.

On Friday, the president and first lady Michelle Obama hosted the cast and crew of the just-released film “Selma” for a screening at the White House.

A struggle for relevance?

He knows deep down inside he's a nobody, and needs to insert himself here and there to try to prove he matters.

Only he doesn't.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

He needs to be digitally inserted into all great historic events, you know, kind of like Forrest Gump. Stupid is as stupid does.

He's still trying to make up for the argument blacks (accurately) made about him in 2008 that he wasn't "down for the struggle."

He's still trying to pretend he cares about the African-American community.

Only he doesn't, and that's why, I think, he does this kind of nonsense.
