Bad News for Bush and Romney
« on: January 20, 2015, 10:41:19 pm »
This should come as no surprise and should be a reality check for the GOPe...run a RINO again and you will lose for sure.  It is amazing that they really think that another Bush or Romney who has lost twice would now win.  The midterms weren't about voters all of a sudden loving the GOPe but rather a clear rejection of Obama policy.

A New Poll Has Bad News For Mitt Romney And Jeb Bush

A new poll indicates two leading contenders have actually lost ground since announcing their interest in the 2016 race for the White House.

According to a NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey released Monday, both  2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) are less popular than they were last year.

Last September, when Romney was repeatedly insisting he would not run for president again, 32% of Americans and 60% of Republicans viewed him favorably.

Romney's popularity has since dipped. According to the NBC poll, just 27% of Americans and 52% of Republicans have a positive rating for him. The drop comes after Romney revealed his interest in a potential 2016 run in January.

Bush's ratings have also taken a small tumble since December, when he announced he was taking a major step toward running for president and forming a leadership PAC. In November, 26% of Americans and 44% of Republicans viewed Bush positively. Now 19% of Americans and 37% of Republicans say the same.

Bush, who has not run for office in over a decade, is lesser known than Romney. He nevertheless has national stature at least partially thanks to the prominence of his family. Both his father, former President George H.W. Bush, and his brother former President George W. Bush have recently served in the Oval Office.

The field is wide open for a dark horse this time around.

I can think of one horse that has actually demonstrated the ability to "pull the load":
Scott Walker of Wisconsin.

Walker does seem to be the one candidate capable of pulling all the factions together.  He seems to be on everyone's "short list."  I fear he may be coaxed out before he ever gets in.  Already the money people in the GOPe must be anxiety-ridden that Romney and Bush can't seem to come to a gentleman's agreement.  It looks like they are going to have to blow through a whole bunch of cash just to settle on who will be the last squishy moderate standing to face the last conservative standing.  Walker is about the only guy in the field everyone likes, and that means he will be offered the moon and the stars to stay out of the race.
