British Mom Fled To Join ISIS, Now Might Not Be Allowed To Return

By Brian Carey, January 18, 2015.

Some people still can’t figure out that ISIS is not a group that anyone should want to join voluntarily.

British mom (or “mum”) Tareena Shakil, 25, fled to Syria with her 16-month-old son to join the Islamic State. Because what better way to raise a young boy than among a bunch of Islamic terrorists?

Then, she was forced into a marriage with a one-legged fighter. We’re not sure if she didn’t want to marry the guy because he had one leg or if she objected to an arranged marriage. Whatever the reason, she wants to go back to her home country.

Nope. It’s not going to be that easy.

And it shouldn’t be.

A Foreign Office source said: “It’s not impossible that this could happen. They are on the front line of the war with IS and will have little sympathy towards her.”

The source also said she would be interrogated over possible terror offenses and sent on a course to “de-radicalize” her. However, that is only if she is allowed home.

“Tareena doesn’t have an automatic right to return to the UK,” said the source. “The Turkish authorities could decide to send her back to Syria.”

“She entered Syria illegally and the normal action is to return illegal immigrants to the country they’ve come from. It’s unlikely she would be sent to Syria but not impossible.”
