Dozens of armed police have surrounded the Charlie Hebdo killers after they seized a hostage and are now holed up on an industrial estate near a Paris airport.

Al Qaeda brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi have been cornered in a village 25 miles from the capital after exchanging gunfire with police on a dramatic car chase this morning.

Officials denied earlier reports that two people had been killed after shots were fired during the operation, but confirmed a hostage had been taken.

French special forces were said to have begun negotiations with the Islamic fanatics, who murdered 12 people at the offices of the satirical newspaper on Wednesday.

As helicopters hovered overhead, France's Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said: 'A police operation is underway.'

Flights into the nearby Charles de Gaulle international airport have been aborted due to its proximity to the siege, around five miles away.

The suspects were holed up in a small printing business named Creating Trend Discovery, a source close to the investigation said. 'It's not sure how many people are inside,' the source said.

Prior to the standoff, the suspects had hijacked a Peugeot 206 in Montagny-Sainte-Felicite from a woman who said she recognised them as the wanted men, a police source said.

 The terrorist brothers suspected of slaughtering 12 people at French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo barricaded themselves inside a warehouse with a hostage Wednesday, just hours before a second gunman took multiple people hostage inside a Paris deli, French media reported.

It’s not clear if the two hostage situations are related.

"Armed and dangerous" brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi stormed into a printing company’s warehouse Friday after they led police on a chase through the Paris area, cops said. The two demanded the workers leave, saying “get out. We don't kill civilians," according to Sky News.

At least 1,500 police officers and snipers surrounded the building and began phone negotinations with the Charlie Hebdo massacre suspects.

The brothers told officials they “want to die as martyrs,” a French politician told the Telegraph.

Now they're reporting "another incident" at the Trocadero Center - touristy area near Eiffel Tower.
Police there with guns drawn.  Metro not stopping at Trocadero station.

Six hostages at Kosher grocery in eastern Paris. Two killed. This is where the suspects are man and woman (see Myst's post below). Coulibaly suspected to be the killer of a policewoman.  Kosher businesses throughout area are closing doors.

Two more in a "printworks" about 30 miles outside Paris holding  one hostage - these are suspected to be the two Charlie Hebdo gunmen.

Now officials finally saying these aren't "lone wolf" events but a coordinated al Qaeda effort. Just different from the usual "mass casualty" type of attacks.

Downtown Paris essentially "paralysed" - reporter saying experts say the current incidents could be the beginning of something much more dangerous - an attempt to distract officials from something bigger, more gruesome and terrifying about to happen. This is too well-organized to be lone wolves.

"Looks like the beginning of a wave of attacks," reporter quotes officials.

Now saying Trocadero incident is being termed "false alarm" by police officials.

Talking about Kosher deli hostage incident: the man and woman were identified as suspects in killing of policewoman after officials appealed for information from the public. Authorities are attempting to negotiate release of five or six hostages there. Official sources say at least two already have been killed there.

The brothers (Charlie Hebdo killers) holed up at the printworks northeast of Paris holding a 26-year-old man hostage after police spotted them and chased by car.   The place is completely surrounded - gunmen have nowhere to go, police believe. Everyone assuming they are prepared to die as martyrs.

 14.31 Rory Mulholland is at Dammartin-en-Goele, where the seige involving Said and Cheif Kouachi and one hostage has been ongoing for six hours.

The stand-off has been going on for six hours now and there is no sign of any development in the crisis that has left this normally sleepy town looking like a war zone.

The accused brothers have reportedly said they want to die martyrs and will not surrender, so it may now be just a question of how long the police will wait before storming the family print company where they are said to be holding a hostage.

In the meantime Dammartin has battened down the hatches and most people are staying safely indoors until it is all over.

Those with children in local schools have been told that their kids will be taken by bus to the town of Mitry, where they should come this afternoon to pick them up.

Andriamanga Raveloharijaona, a pensioner whose house lies just 300 yards from where the siege is taking place, said he was terrified this morning when he suddenly hear three helicopters roaring in the sky above his home.

"It was just after my daughter brought the kids to school. I'm worried about them," he said.

 14.37 Researcher Myriam Benraad at the Paris Science Po university, who has studied terror cells in Paris, is warning a renowned terror cell in the city has reawoken and to expect more attacks. Nicola Harley reports:

Quote Ms Benraad researched Paris' Buttes-Charmont terror cell, named after the park where they trained, which was created by Farid Benyettou who befriended and recruited the Kouachi brothers and others at the city's Addawa mosque.

The latest wanted suspect Amedy Coulibaly, who is allegedly involved in a shooting at a grocers in Paris' Port de Vincennes where two people have died and behind yesterday's killing of a policewoman, was part of the same terror cell.

She said: "Coulibaly is part of the same group as the Kouachi brothers. They were part of the same neighbourhood.

"This would confirm this has not been a lone wolf attack. It is the awakening of the terror cell of an old network to jihadi calls to wage war against France. I believe it is in response to calls by Isil for French extremists to carry out attacks on their home soil.

"I think this is just the start.

"I studied Farid Benyettou's cell in 2005 when Cherif Kouachi failed to get to Syria.

"This cell consisted of no more than 20 people, three others have been imprisoned, not included these three men.

"The leader of the mosque would have guided them initially before they came under Benyettou's charismatic spell. He was the first major influence for Cherif and the second was meeting terrorist Djamel Beglal while in prison.

"He really radicalised him and he then influenced his brother and others.

"The Buttes-Charmont network shows a profile of similar radicalised young men. The members mainly from the neighbourhood and the local mosque.

"These attacks mean they had a plan for waging attacks in the country.

This network sent men to Syria and Iraq in 2005 and has remained dormant until now and reawoken. It never disappeared. These are boys from the ghetto who have been ostracised from society and felt deprived and unwanted and have been vulnerable to being radicalised and being promised a better life. Like the Kouachi brothers they were abandoned by their parents or neglected and did feel integrated into society and have felt stigmatised as Muslims in France.

Heard on radio yesterday, that Obama has allowed...hell, instigated...the importation of 4 MILLION Muslims each year, since 2009.
