The 25 Republicans Who Did Not Vote for John Boehner

 Melissa Quinn  / @MelissaQuinn97 / January 06, 2015 / 0 comments

House Speaker John Boehner was elected to his third term as the No. 1 Republican in the lower chamber, but not without resistance from more than two-dozen fellow GOP lawmakers.

Boehner collected 216 votes. Former speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., his closest rival, received 164.

Republicans needed 29 defectors to defeat Boehner. Twenty-five lawmakers did not vote for the newly elected House Speaker, the most no votes cast against a speaker in the last century. One of those members — Rep. Brian Babin of Texas — voted “present,” which lowered the threshold for the number of votes Boehner needed to win the speakership.

Of the alternatives to Boehner, Rep. Daniel Webster of Florida earned 12 votes. Three lawmakers voted for Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas, and two cast votes for Rep. Ted Yoho of Florida.

I sent this email to my congressman, whose name doesn't appear on the list:  Get rid of Tammy Fay Boehner and get someone who doesn't need a broomstick shoved up his ass and lodged in throat to act as a spine. :soangry:

Chris Gibson is an interesting situation. Immediately afterward, he announced his intent not to seek re-election. He effectively made himself a lame duck.

Interesting to see several from Florida!  Yay!  I am angry as hell though.  Boehner has no right to "punish" those who stood up for the voice of the people.  Last time I checked that SOB is supposed to work for us not against us!
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Be sure to pull out those checkbooks, folks!  Keep the money train choo-chooing along because of a meaningless vote!   :silly:

Wait, you really sent that to your congressman?  You're joking, right, because I'd read that nonsense and immediately dismiss it as garbage.

At least 25 people have some balls.  The rest are as spineless as Boehner.

I already let my Congresscritter know what I think of his vote.  He rode the Tea Party wave in 2010, and has now joined the DC country club.  He will not get my vote again.

I'd sell the email address to Freedomworks, Senate Conservative Fund, Tea Party Patriots, Club for Growth, Madison Group, and Heritage Action.

I really did.  From what I can gather, though, they take all concerns to the garbage and continue on their hypocritical ways.
