Advisory about fake Jan 3 protests against Obama
« on: January 03, 2015, 05:03:52 pm »
Someone is out there trying to claim the name of anti-amnesty/tea party groups and start up some fake protests-- probably to fail on purpose to make it appear there is no opposition.

Quote
This advisory is being sent on New Year's Day 2015 to all activists and organizations fighting against illegal immigration and the Obama-McConnell-Boehner Amnesty Plot.

There is a Facebook account and Event page under the name Douglas Coggeshall that is making false claims about having more than 250 cities and towns organized to protest against Obama and Boehner and their amnesty for illegal aliens on Jan. 3.

While this event page is designed to look, sound, and operate like our protest coalition it is not us and the person behind it is refusing to clear up that confusion or work in coalition with us.

This event page claims to have more than 250 cities organized yet at the time of this alert only 224 people have joined the event and there appears to be no backing preexisting organization behind this event page that heavily imitates our past language, events, and strategies...
https://www.facebook.com/events/9969...y_type=regular

While we have challenged them to produce a list of these towns and locations, no list has been presented. The language being used on the event page is exceptionally similar to the language that has been used by ALIPAC and Overpasses for America to conduct more than 600 protests in 2014 (click to access record of event times and locations) with Americans protesting in more than 300 towns on January 18, 2014.

PLEASE ADVISE ALL MEDIA AND ACTIVISTS THAT THESE CLAIMS OF PROTESTS ON JAN 3, 2015 ARE NOT ORIGINATING FROM US AND NOT FROM ANY KNOWN OR VETTED LEADER OR ORGANIZATION PREVIOUSLY INVOLVED WITH OUR MOVEMENT!

We have chosen to issue this advisory because while some Overpasses for America protest leaders in Georgia and Florida have signed on with the Coggeshall Jan 3 protest, none of the other Overpass state groups are on board and none of the more than 20 organizations that worked in coalition on such protests in 2014 have joined in.

In fact, several of the leaders of national groups have asked the Douglas Coggeshall Facebook account to not hold protests on Jan 3 because more than 80% of our nation is below 32 degrees right now and because organizing ground protests at this time diverts time and attention away from the calls to Congress we need asking Republicans to dethrone John Boehner for conspiring with Obama on amnesty!

There is a danger that highly biased pro illegal alien amnesty blogs and media will begin crowing on January 4 that our movement against Obama and Boehner failed to manifest at expected nationwide protests on Jan 3, when in fact our movement is not behind this Facebook page or effort!

Please alert all of your contacts that these Jan 3 protests are not originating from anyone from within our national illegal immigration protest coalition and that the person or persons behind this Facebook event page is claiming to have more cities organized than we did back in July of 2014 when we had more than 20 organizations working together!

While we cannot be sure if the person behind this is a well intentioned activist that is being reckless and refusing to honor the wishes of known and vetted leaders on this, or if this is a more sophisticated attempt to cause confusion and embarrassment to our protest movement, we want everyone to focus on calling Congress with us to ask them to FIRE BOEHNER when they vote for Speaker on Jan 6 and join our next national wave of Overpass protests scheduled for March 27-30!

We hope this document being placed online and circulated on January 1, 2015 will server to protect our movement against Obama and Boehner from any false claims that our movement failed to muster on Jan 3 because our protest coalition is not behind this claim of protests on Jan 3.

From the founder of ALIPAC on Facebook:

Quote
We dont even know if his is a person named Douglas Cogeshall or someone using that name and image on Facebook. We have been unable to find any evidence this guy had anything to do with any of our prior efforts in 2014 at all, but the language he is using in some of his descriptions and releases and his claims of having over 250 cities and towns organized are obviously derrived from our works in the opinions of those that wrote and released our messages in coalition with more than 20 groups and organizations with pre existing track records in 2014. The possible harm is that the person or persons behind this Facebook account could be creating a Straw Man event by which they make claims that sound like us, some people think it is us, and then their socialist coconspirators jump in to announce to Congress next week that the opposition to Boehner and Obama failed to materialize! While this would be a big lie, this is the kind of thing they do sometimes. And it wont matter what the truth is because they will use their elite advantages in money and media access to bombard lawmakers with the claim our opposition did not materialize when in fact our opposition groups never chose to or planned to materialize at physical protests with more than than 80% of America's overpasses being at below freezing levels right now. Several of us had to interupt our family time and other work to step in to make sure that everyone realized that everyone on this page has absolutely no idea who you are working with, following, or trusting in on this Facebook page at this moment. So not only could a Straw Man tactic be used to protect Boehner and Obama next week but loyal protesters that believe the description on this event as truth and try to protest thinking there will be hundreds and later find out they were duped... well they may be very unlikely to participate in the future. If there just a few rallies going on and people wanted to have those and there was an honest count and list of locations, that would be fine. But this guy is writing checks with his mouth on Facebook that his lack of organizational backing can't cash, justify, or even show us the slightest evidence of.

I've suspected this kind of thing has been going on for some time.  Now, it's getting bigger and bolder.  Expect to see a lot more.  We should do this to them, seems to be effective.

The guy who was trying to start this is a major troll on FR (one of those who tries to start fights on every thread he is on to cause dissent). Checking on the posts there, he had virtually no support. He was talking to himself for the most part. He refused to give a clear answer as to what cities and locations. He falsely claimed support from Overpasses for America and other groups. From what I've seen the turnout is close to zero today.

This is either someone with an ego and enthusiasm bigger than himself....

...or an attempt to discredit anti-illegal and opposition to Boehner by making it appear the opposition is very limited.

I can tell you this, we just got back from standing with Doug Coggeshall on the 54th Avenue I275 overpass in St. Petersburgh, and this man is the real deal.  He is no troll or false flag operative, he is a Patriot through and through.  He may not be the best planner,  and one could say that he may have out run his blocking on this one, but his motives are unquestionably pure.

Double Vouch for Doug Coggeshall, I was there on the 54th Avenue overpass with Katz & Doug.

Doug is genuine and his sincerity is unquestionable. This was not Doug's first protest on the overpass either.

Interesting. I've heard the exact opposite from several tea party leaders and leaders of some anti-amnesty groups. Maybe his online presence is different than his in-person personality. His on line reputation is one that has put off a lot of those who should be allies. It was enough for at least two major groups to issue warnings about him and this event. I also recall from FR he was in the Elsie/Colorfornian Mormon attack squad.

Doug is an older gentleman (emphasis on both older and gentleman) that may not have all of the online protocols & etiquette down.  But if any one here spent time with him, looked into his eyes while you shook his hand, no one would question his patriotism nor motivation.

(I know nothing of his views on Mormons, it has never come up in conversation.)
