Does Obama Have Different Standards for North Korea and Muslim Terrorists?

Posted By Daniel Greenfield On January 2, 2015 @ 3:39 pm In The Point | 4 Comments

Even though the investigation into the Sony hack is incomplete, Obama decided to impose sanctions on North Korea.

I like a little cowboy diplomacy and I don’t particularly care whether North Korea did it or not (this is a regime that experiments with chemical weapons on people, whether they hacked a film studio is low down on the atrocity scale) but it seems odd coming from the guy who always warns us not to jump to conclusions when a Muslim terrorist attack happens.

Here he’s fine with jumping to conclusions. Meanwhile a Muslim driving a flying camel filled with explosives into a 4th of July parade while shouting, “I’m doing this because I’m Muslim and hate non-Muslims” would just result in another lecture about jumping to conclusions.

The Obama administration on Friday imposed a wave of sanctions against members of the North Korean government, amounting to the U.S. government’s first official response to the cyber-attack against Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Despite lingering questions from private security analysts over whether North Korea was responsible for the hack — as the FBI has alleged — the White House described the new sanctions as retaliation against Pyongyang.

“We take seriously North Korea’s attack that aimed to create destructive financial effects on a U.S. company and to threaten artists and other individuals with the goal of restricting their right to free expression,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement.

So it’s also a different standard when it comes to protecting donors in Hollywood. Not surprising from the most corrupt administration in American history without a Clinton in its name.

So what do these terrifying sanctions amount to?

The president signed an executive order authorizing sanctions against agencies and officials associated with the North Korean government and Workers’ Party of Korea.

The Treasury Department, in turn, has designated three government-tied entities and 10 North Korean officials under those sanctions. The sanctions would deny them access to the U.S. financial system and bar them from entering the U.S.

So members of a Communist dictatorship that shuns all contact with the outside world won’t be allowed to open bank accounts or visit America.

I’m sure somebody is shaking in their boots right now.
