Four little words of advice for Michael Grimm: Charlie Rangel and Alcee Hastings

By: gawken (Diary)  |  December 24th, 2014 at 09:30 AM  |  2

New York GOP Congressman Michael Grimm  yesterday pleaded guilty to one count of felony tax evasion. It is inevitable that he will soon resign from the House. Speaker Boehner has wisely to date refrained from any public comment; allowing Grimm time over the holidays to contemplate his fall from grace and hopefully come to the correct decision as to his future.

Let’s be clear here. Grimm MUST resign. Yes, his story is sad. After a distinguished career of service to his country, as both a Marine and an FBI agent, he broke the law while running a small business ( before his election to the House).

Grimm will soon be sentenced, and he can begin the process of  repenting, and turning his life around, but he cannot do so while serving as a member of Congress.

But already, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)11%11% and the Democrats have begun to demand that Boehner call for Grimm to resign, and to begin planning to have the House censure/expel/”draw & quarter” him on the National Mall.

Sort of a “draining the swamp 2.0.” About what we’d expect from Pelosi.

I fully expect that Grimm knows what he must do, which is to resign. But as a former Marine, (as am I) Grimm knows that when confronted by the enemy, and facing certain death, Marines DO NOT assume the fetal position; rather, they fight on to the last breath, determined to take as many of the enemy bastards with them as possible.

And Marines never, NEVER retreat. They just “attack in the opposite direction!”

So, Michael, here’s a modest suggestion. Have fun with what’s about to happen. Indeed, embrace it. You’ve admitted your mistake, you’re prepared to face the consequences. But before resigning, raise a little hell. Here’s one last chance to take some shots at the rank hypocrisy of the Democrats.

Hold press conferences. Go on FOX News. Heck, demand to meet with the editorial board of the NY Times. And ask the tough questions:

Why should you resign while Charlie Rangel and Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL)9%9%  are still in the House, and have been repeatedly endorsed by  the Democrat leadership for re-election?

Rangel has a long history of checkered financial self dealings, and failure to report income and assets. IOW, tax fraud.

Hastings was a federal judge when he was impeached and convicted of accepting a massive bribe.

Demand that reporters ask Pelosi, and Hoyer, and crazy Debbie Wasserman-Schultz that question. Challenge the media for  being two faced hypocrites; ignoring that these two criminals are still in Congress.

You can, and should, take them on. It’ll do the nation a world  of good, and you will find it a liberating experience. It can be the first step in reclaiming your life.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade…
