Aircraft is an Airbus A320-216, registry PK-AXC.

One thing they know for certain, the aircraft is not still flying.  It is already passed the point of fuel exhaustion.

Media speculation to this point is that some very large monsoonal thunderstorms (55,000 feet high) may have played a role...based on the confirmed report of the pilot requesting an alternate route during flight.

Proof, I guess, will be if they find debris in daylight.  The Java Sea to the Soutn China Sea is somewhat narrower waters than in the pervious aviation troubles there. This should allow for easier search, particularly if the plane was south of Borneo as they seem to think.  Irony that the parent airline is again based in Malaysia.

If so, Air France 447 all over again.

Obama, peace be upon him, has been briefed on the situation.

All is good now.  Resume normal activities.

Forgive me, but my country is circling the drain.  I couldn't care less about another Indonesian jetliner gone missing.

Missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 and MH370 share similarities according to aviation experts

Good, grief, where do they dig up these "experts"?  The only similarities is that they're in the same part of the world, and both lost contact mid-flight.

Until 8501 is missing for 10+ months, that is where the similarities end.  MH370 simply disappeared in perfect weather where as 8501 was flying into weather so bad another flight decided not to go through it and turned back.  They also requested to change course and altitude with ATC, something 370 never did.

Other planes that have crashed in the region have taken up to two weeks to find simply due to the amount of area to search, and except for MH370, all were found.
