According to a recent WND report, a number of protest groups are planning a disruptive demonstration at the headquarters of Fox News Channel and the New York Post, two media outlets under the umbrella of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.

An online invitation to the “shutdown” event describes Murdoch as a “corporate racist” who “supports and disseminates racist, classist, sexist … misinformation” through the aforementioned organizations.

The organizers of this so-called “die-in shutdown and boycott” seem to consider the Post their most immediate foe, though they also mention other targets of the protest – Fox, specifically. The newspaper is being singled out for its ostensible “continued bias, racist untruths and misrepresentation of the facts of the Garner and most other cases of police brutality and murder of civilians in this city.”

Eric Garner died of a heart attack after being detained by New York City police who suspected him of illegally selling cigarettes.

Being presented as part of the ongoing protests held nationwide in response to cases of perceived police brutality against blacks, the Jan. 2 event is described as “the first part of a larger upcoming campaign for justice” and includes a list of “immediate demands.”

Those demands include the dismissal of NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo, prosecutor Daniel Donavon, and NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton, a payment to Garner’s family, increased review of police action, the addition of an independent prosecutor to review all future cases, and the curtailment of arrests for infractions such as marijuana possession.

A Facebook invitation further demonizes the supposed “primitive, reactionary and backward view and propaganda of those rising up in Ferguson and New York City are somehow responsible for the murder of 2 police officers in Brookln [sic]” last weekend.

So far, fewer than 1,000 individuals of the more than 4,000 invited have expressed their intention to take part in the protest, which is being organized in part by the Occupy movement. A list of future protests and demonstrations is also listed in the social media posting.
