Dismal: Harry Reid's Senate took 657 votes, but passed just 25 laws

New statistics from C-SPAN detailing the activity in the Senate over the past two years appears to defy the 113th Congress’ reputation as “do-nothing.”
The public service cable operation that covers the Senate and House gavel to gavel found that the total number of roll call votes taken in the Senate actually increased over the 112th Congress, which served from 2011-2013. Votes increased to 657 from 484.
Confirmation votes, boosted in a last minute flurry of action this week, also surged to more than double the 82 of the 112th Congress, to 188.
But then the real evidence of inaction in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s chamber is shown by C-SPAN’s counting of measures, or legislation, passed. Over the last two years, the Senate approved just 25 measures, a huge drop from the previous Congress’ 36.
