So said Barack Obama this week in response to the Sony hacking scandal that forced the film studio to pull the release of the new film, The Interview.
Barack Obama is against censorship? Really? Has he forgotten about THIS story from just last summer?
Let us go back to a Fourth of July parade in the tiny town of Norfolk, Nebraska. A float created by longtime local, Dale Remmich depicted a zombie farmer standing in front of an outhouse that had a sign depicting it as the “Obama Presidential Library”
Within days, the Obama administration sent the United Stated Department of Justice to Norfolk to investigate the parade float and allegations of “discrimination” by such organizations as the NAACP.
Town leaders, parade organizers, and Mr. Remmich himself were interviewed by Justice Department officials. Parade officials indicated they would look at their float policy and revise it if necessary, though they also said Mr. Remmich’s float was “very popular” among those who attended the parade.
So this past week, Barack Obama marches out and declares Sony Studios “made a mistake” by bowing to the will of a “dictator” and that we as Americans cannot allow a dictator to “impose censorship here in the United States.”
North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un had his government hack into and then intimidate Sony Studios over a film the dictator did not like.
American president (dicatator?) Barack Obama sent his government to a little Nebraska town over a parade float he did not like.
It’s true – we should not allow some dictator someplace to start imposing censorship here in the United States.
And that very much includes you, President Obama.
