Van Susteren: Why Didn't Obama Help Marine Jailed in Mexico?

Fox News host Greta Van Susteren says she is mystified that President Barack Obama did not give Andrew Tahmooressi, a Marine sergeant jailed in Mexico for several months earlier this year, the same treatment that American Alan Gross got after being freed from a Cuban prison on Wednesday.
Alan Gross got out "because President Obama's administration held secret meetings in Canada with Cuban officials and cut a deal," Van Susteren said Wednesday on her TV program, "On the Record."
She also noted that the Obama White House sent "a government plane to Cuba to pick [Gross] up" and "packed that plane with members of Congress."
"As he landed at Andrews Air Force Base, Secretary of State John Kerry was there to hug and meet Mr. Gross," she said. "But that's not all. President Obama even placed a call to Mr. Gross on that plane as he flew back to the United States."
Van Susteren said she is thrilled that Gross, who is in poor health after being held for five years, got such treatment and is happy he is back home. But she said she wonders why calls from herself and others to try to get Tahmooressi freed went unheeded.
The Marine, who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, says he made a wrong turn and couldn't keep from crossing the Mexican border in the early hours of April 1. He said he told Mexican border officials he had weapons in his car and only wanted to turn around and go back into the United States.
They took him into custody instead.
Van Susteren said she knows Obama can't help everybody, but pointed out that Tahmooressi simply made a mistake and had been injured by an IED during his two tours in Afghanistan.
"Not only did President Obama not help, but he never called Sgt. Tahmooressi's mother, or even Sgt. Tahmooressi after he got home," she said.
