Miss Honduras, sister, found shot to death

The bodies of Miss Honduras, Maria Jose Alvarado, 19, and her sister were found Wednesday buried in a small mountain village, police officials said.
The reigning beauty queen and her sister, Sophia Trinidad Hernandez, 23, went missing last week only three days before they were to leave for London for the Miss World competition.
The pair had been attending a birthday party Thursday night in the resort city of Santa Barbara, about 120 miles northwest off the capital, Tegucigalpa. The bodies were found in the nearby village of Cablotales near the River Aguagua.
Leandro Osorio, head of the National Directorate of Criminal Investigation, said two suspects, including the sister's boyfriend, were in custody, the newspaper La Tribuna reports. Weapons and a car allegedly used to transport the bodies were confiscated.
The newspaper La Prensa identified the suspects as Plutarch Ruiz, Sophia's boyfriend, and Aris Valentin Maldonado.
Osorio said the two women apparently were shot and killed Thursday night, not long after their abduction, and their bodies buried in a mountain village nearby. He said the beauty queen had been shot from behind and her sister shot from the front.
Police said the killers then went back and tried to clean up the crime scene.
The police official said a "protected witness" had provided values clues in the case.
